Plaque marking spot where the body of General Arturo Prat was deposited after the Battle of Iquique, Iquique , Chile
Agustín Arturo Prat Chacón was a lawyer and naval officer. He took part in several naval battles against the Spanish in the 1860s before becoming a lawyer. He rejoined the navy for the War of the Pacific and was killed when the corvette Esmeralda was sunk by the Peruvian Navy ironclad Huáscar on 21st May 1879 during the Battle of Iquique (the first major naval battle of the war).
