Monument to Manca Capac and his wife Mama Uqllu in Limacpampa Grande, Cusco, Peru
Manco Capac and his wife Mama Uqllu are two of the main figures in Inca mythology. According to legends (there are 2 main versions) Manco Capac founded Cusco and the Inca empire and was the first Sapa Inca (king), ruling from approx 1200-1230. Little is known about him and his wife directly from historical sources.
