Ceramic bulls and wooden cross for protection on tiled roof of house, Ollantaytambo, Sacred Valley, Peru
Pairs of ceramic bulls (which are traditionally made in Pucará, Puno Region) and crosses are commonly placed on the roofs of buildings in the Cusco Region and elsewhere in Peru. They are believed to bring protection and good luck to the family, and show the influence of the Spanish / Catholic colonisation of the region.
