La Merced church, Lima, Peru
La Merced church dates from the 17th century, its ornate carved stone Churrigueresque baroque style facade was completed in 1687. The statue is of Ramón Castilla y Marquesado (31 August 1797 – 25 May 1867), who fought in the Wars of Independence and was later president of Peru twice (1845-1851 and 1855-1862).
