Priest blessing market stalls with alcohol at San Santiago festival , Taquile Island , Peru
After mass the local priest (who comes from Puno on the mainland for festivals as well as occasional masses) leads the procession of San Santiago round the village. Here he is blessing the textile stalls on the square with alcohol to bring good luck to the owners, a ceremony known as ch'alla and common throughout the Andes.
