James's or Puna flamingo (Phoenicoparrus jamesi)
Named after Harry Berkley James who sponsored the expedition that first collected specimens. Considered a vulnerable species, it was thought to be extinct until a colony was rediscovered in 1956. Image taken at Salar de Surire in northern Chile. Red legs. Local names: parina chica, pariguana chica.
