Amazonian sunbittern (Eurypyga helias helias)
The only member of its family, found in tropical forests and wetlands in most of northern South America and Central America. There are 3 subspecies, the Amazonian sunbittern (Eurypyga helias helias) is the most widespread and found in tropical lowland South America. Local names: tigana, pavito de agua, ave sol, garza del sol, tamrilla.
