Fairly common on shores of high altitude lakes and wetlands (both freshwater and saline, 3800-4500+m) in Andes and altiplano in Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile and northern Argentina. Local names: chorlito puneño, chorlitejo serrano, chorlo de la puna.
