Facade of former customs house, Arica, Region XV, Chile
The old customs office (or Aduana) in Arica is one of several buildings in northern Chile designed by the French architect Gustave Eiffel. Construction began in December 1871 and finished in July 1874. It now houses a cultural centre, the Casa de Cultura. The banner in Chilean national colours is for the September 18th Independence Day celebrations.
