Close up of carved face on the Wilakala monolith at site of Konko Wankane, La Paz Department, Bolivia
Konko Wankane (also spelt Khonkho Wankane / Wakani) was an important Late Formative / pre Tiwanaku era ceremonial site in the Jachcha Jahuira river valley near Jesús de Machaca approx 30km south of Tiwanaku. The face (almost certainly a representation of a deity) has lightning bolts below the eyes.
